Over the last 5 years Dr Jan Ramaekers has been co-promoter and principal investigator of a number of PhD research programs at the Faculty of Psychology & Neuroscience, Maastricht University. Study grants have been obtained from pharmaceutical industries, the European Committee, US National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Dutch Ministry of Health. In 2006, a FP6 study grant proposal (DRUID, integrated EU project) on illicit drugs, neurocognitive function and crash risk was accepted for funding by the European Committee. The integrated project comprises a research consortium of 37 European partners. The applicant is task leader of all experimental research within the consortium. In the same year, he obtained a grant from NWO (open competition) to fund a PhD project: “Cannabis and MDMA: the human neuropharmacology of memory impairment”.
